Looking for a sports marathon calendar?

Good news... There's heaps of sports marathon calendar resources available out there.

Everything from journals that will let you record daily runs to running calendars that contain inspirational tips, essays and running quotes.

As you'd know doubt know, one of the great things about physical fitness and keeping fit is that you get to maintain a pretty well-balanced lifestyle.

After all, when marathon running (and the strenuous demands required of that sport) you need to, right?

So, you and I both know that YOU need to value your health. (Plus keep a good sports marathon calendar journal close by!)

So here's some tips and suggestions for keeping yourself in top shape, staying healthy and having the necessary energy needed to do marathon running!

(By the way, there's a list of sports marathon calendar resources at the bottom of this page or you can find a triathlon calendar here).

Keep your water intake up

We can (apparently!) survive for days, if not a week or so without food. But it's a different story when it comes to water...

It's been said that water is the most important element needed by the body. And when you're running - and especially long distance running - excessive perspiration (without any means of replenishing the lost fluids) can cause you some serious troubles!

So you need to avoid dehydration and keep your water intake up! Especially when you're doing strenuous exercises and training!

Although I'm no sports doctor (nor do I play one on TV), it's suggested that sports drinks are a good idea too because they contain additional important ingredients needed by a long distance runner: carbohydrates and electrolytes.

It's said that electrolytes are usually lost during strenuous physical activity. Carbohydrates, on the other hand, are needed by the body during strenuous workouts to provide more energy so that the body can cope with ALL that running you do!

Vegetables make for good energy food!

People who are into marathon running require more vegetables and fruits. (And me too, even though I'm not a huge runner!) The theory is that the body is craving for more vitamins and mineral supplements.

So by eating your fruits and vegetables you make your body stronger and healthier enabling it to cope with demands of ALL that running you do!

Warm up before any kind of strenuous activities!

When I was in school I always warmed up before sports or playing a mad football game or two. Then someone told me I needed to warm down too. That made me really confused! (But that's another story).

Anyways... you need to be warming up before you start running in order NOT to put additional strain on the body. So, before you do that marathon, make sure you warm up! (You do this anyway, right?)

The thing is that there are some really good sports marathon calendar resources available - journals, calendars and running books that will allow you to log your runs and workouts, including times for long distance runs.

Enjoy the run!
