Did The Cabin Builder's Posse Really Invent
The Simple Wood Calendar Holder?
"Some stories are true that never happened" -Elie Weisel
Do you know how the simple wood calendar holder came to be?
No? Well, neither did I. Until I read a fascinating story like, um, this one.
So, are you ready then?
A long, long time ago, a curious, small figured man was spending an easy day with his friends amongst some large, slender limbed trees. His friends had gathered because one of them, a gangly, hyper-enthusiastic, proud fellow, had persuaded them to help build a log cabin for him and his newly wed young bride.
Towards the end part of the long, tiring day, after they had selected one fine specimen and brought her down, carefully sawed her in small pieces, and were measuring log sizes, the curious small man sat himself down for a well deserved rest.
Now just before we go on, in case you're wondering what this has to do with a wood calendar holder... Well, er, I'd like to tell you, but you'll find out soon enough...
He popped out his bush pipe, loaded it with 'bacco, and listened intently to the cacophony of sweet bird sounds and nature noises. His friends had the billy on and were brewing some bush tea up. Life was almighty fine.
It was right at that moment that he observed something so profound that it would change the history of the world as we currently know it. Although what he observed was seemingly normal, the implications of its use would be significant...
Over in a small distance, one of the 'cabin-building' posse was whittling a small, faggot (or stick) with a little pen knife. What he was shaping that stick into the curious small man couldn't quite tell. But the idea he had reached up and grabbed him, and shook him so hard that he just had to cry out loud...
"Oh my sweet mother in heaven! I've got it!"
Everyone turned to look at him, and the billy tea went tumbling. Even the birds were silent. A hush came over the workers. (Did you hear that pin drop?) And then he said, mumbling quietly at first... "wood calendar holder" and slowly getting louder AND louder... "wood calendar holder..."
It was right then that the whole freakin' cabin builder's posse started to chant along with the curious, small figured man...
"Wood calendar holder... wood calendar holder..."
Until the whole forest was ringing with the pleasant sounds of proud workmen's voices. And you know what? They did indeed 'git it.'
Right there, deep in that rugged valley, they realized that, with foresight, and a little ingenuity, they could mould and shape that tree into materials that would help people for generations and generations...
So there you have it.
So... what's the lesson here?
It's simple. Sometimes, just take time out to relax and see the bigger picture, 'cause you never quite know what amazing discovery your mind may unearth!
Anyway, my sixth sense is now detecting that you, let me guess... came here for "a wooden object which holds a calendar and which looks great in any office or home." Am I right or am I right?
Ok then... here you go...
